threefold architects design has transformed a cluster of dilapidated barns into a modern family home

The original structure comprised of four inter-connected buildings, two barns, one “furniture makers” workshop and one “farm” use building. The building is in the middle of the Cotswolds, in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, forming part of a Mill complex that was operational from c.1780

The building has been converted into a contemporary house. Original features have been sensitively restored and modern insertions expressly separated from the existing structure. The design sought to knit the 4 buildings together with a ribbon like circulation route, placing the large open plan living spaces on the south side of the building overlooking the valley and the bedroom spaces on the private north side.

The completed building comprises 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, an open plan living area (kitchen, dining, living), a winter garden, an office, and a vaulted double height hallway.
